18th Annual General Meeting

The 18th Annual General meeting of the Association of Professional Sri Lankans in the UK was held at Heathrow – Windsor Marriot Hotel on the 21st May 2022. The meeting was well attended by APSL members, representatives of other Sri Lankan Associations, as well as Mr Samantha Pathirana, Deputy High Commissioner of the Sri Lankan High Commission in the UK.

Delivering the welcome address, the President Thushara Madurasinghe highlighted some of the key achievements made by the Association made over the past 12 months which included expansion of Cancer relief Fund. Student scholarship scheme, distribution of medical equipment and medicines to Sri Lanka and participation of key events such as the UN Climate Change conference (COP26), and the more recent Independence Day celebrations.

Outgoing General secretary Ms. Gayani Senaratne presented a detailed Annual Report for the year 2021/22 whilst Treasurer Ms. Buddhini Liyanage provided the Treasurer’s report.

The Deputy High Commissioner Mr Samantha Pathirana, during his speech commended on the collaborative work that that APSL carries out with many organisations including the Sri Lanka High Commission. We wish to take this opportunity to thank the Executive Committee for all their support during the past year. Also many thanks to all our members, well wishers, sponsors and donors, for continuing to support APSL including our fundraising activities.
